The Z254 is a zero-turn riding mower built around a 137.2 cm reinforced stamped steel cutting deck with three blades and an electromagnetic clutch, driven by a twin-cylinder Briggs & Stratton PXi2400 engine. Cutting height adjusts from 3.8 cm to 10.2 cm, and the deck supports collecting, mulching and side discharge, so the same machine handles bagging, fine clipping return and wide dispersal.

A maintenance-free hydrostatic transmission and an automatic parking brake that engages and disengages with the steering levers keep operation simple, while the spring-assisted deck lift reduces the effort of changing height. The removable foot pan opens quick access to the deck for cleaning and debris removal, and the 13.25 L fuel tank, 10.5 km/h maximum forward speed and 15-inch high-back vinyl seat with digital hour meter support longer mowing sessions.
